ADHAAR (Association for Development of Human Action & Rehabilitation) is running Mahila Panchayat Programme in at E-388, New Ashok Nagar, East District of Delhi. Supported by: Delhi Commission for Women Govt. of Delhi. Where Legal Awareness and formation of Mahila Panchayat is another step for women empowerment these Mahila Panchayat offer crisis and legal aid at community aid at legal disputes and assist in reduction of violence against women.
All the concerned NGOs presented ideas for enabling women for their legal rights. It is a Delhi Commission for Women, a Delhi Govt. Body program of Mahila Panchayat It is an initiative taken up by the Commission for legal empowerment of women and for distress redressal at the community level. Groups of community women, identified by the NGOs , form a Panchayat in their area, take up local disputes, counsel the two parties and assist in reducing violence in their locality.
There is one coordinator and Four paralegal workers in a Panchayat. These women are selected from the community, are trained in the different laws pertaining to women and guided in the process of handling a case and counseling women in distress.
This Programme Objective to stop violence against women through awareness and action by changing values and attitudes in our society. To build the capacity of grassroots women to become legally aware, gender sensitive and nonjudgmental, to listen with empathy to victims of domestic violence. To provide a forum for conflict resolution to resolve family disputes. To prepare women for legal action and seek legal aid when necessary. Follow up and process documentation of all the cases.
