About Us


In 1993, ADHAAR (Association For Development of Human Action & Rehabilitation) had started its activities & program for welfare of children and women and community with the eminent guidance and support of professional team of Board of members. Our main objective is to develop the human action for proper rehabilitation for those who are in difficult circumstances. So, we are putting the effort to raise the Awareness level, socio - economic status and psychological development of the community children, adolescent girls, women and youth.

Adhaar’s main trust area is Women and Adolescent Girls welfare by providing or through linkage with other organizations e.g. Health, Education and Socio- Economic up-liftment. As we know that women are key factor in any family for care and well being its member. So, we have thought, plan, act and help them to empower both socially and economically.
More than 134 women and young girls take vocational Training Separate batches in GRC Training Center of cutting & Stitching, JUTE & PAPER Bags Making, Computer Learning and book biding for the purpose income generation and economically independent. The young students/ unemployed youth are also given vocation guidance to choose their career.
We are making varieties of Jute Bags, Purses, Conference Bags, File Folders, Wooden Handicraft, Bead Works etc.

Mahila Panchayat
A Non Government organization Smile Foundation is funding the “Swabhiman Project” in association of ADHAAR in East Delhi District.

Under this project, target areas are marginalized & poor community of New Ashok Nagar & JJ Cluster Shashi Garden, Patparganj. We are working on different type of subjects. Major issues are health and family planning, health & hygiene, RTI/STI & HIV/AIDS prevention, spacing between two child, distribution of condom, pills, emergency pills & sanitary napkins etc. and aware the whole community of the area.

We are working for the underprivileged married women & adolescents and spread awareness through community meetings, counseling sessions & Street plays in the target area.
The total number of Mahila Panchayat meetings held are more than 320 and 7649 community women members. More than 173 new cases were handled and 153 cases were solved. 180 cases were counseled. 268 cases were sent notices by Mahila panchayat. 264 cases were heard and follow up of 90 cases was done.

Investigation was done of 156 cases and legal help was offered to 36 cases.( legal help was offered through DCW/NCW/police station/DLSA etc) Legal Aid & advice was given in 166 cases. 6 legal camps were held and 12 resource persons were invited to provide legal information. 402 community women & girls benefited from attending the LEGAL CAMPS & CAPACITY BUILDING.

4 exposure visits were organized for the members and 175 members went on the visits and Celebrated International Women Day. Premarital counseling was offered to 84 males and 109 females. In the families in which counseling was done 63 persons were males and 62 persons were females.
We are running different vocational training courses i.e. BEAUTY CULTURE, DESIGNING & DRESS MAKING, COMPUTER LEARNING, HOME MANAGEMENT JUTE BAGS MAKING AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT and trained more than 160 young girls and boys. We help community people especially young girls for self sufficiency and economic empowerment.
HIV/AIDS Awareness
We held number of camps on Family Health Awareness Campaign Rally, Camps & Counseling under the support of Delhi Aids Control Society, of Delhi, to disseminate the information on RTI, STD & HIV at schools, colleges and Community level, both Adolescents & Youth.
Self Help Groups
57 SHG groups have been formed and the total amount of savings is rupees 556785. The total amount of inter loaning among the members is 3 lakhs. 4 groups have been assisted to take a loan of rupees 8 lakhs. These groups have already returned amount to the bank from which they have taken the loan. The loan has been taken by the members for self employment purpose.
Yamuna Action Plan
Delhi Jal Board has given an assignment under Yamuna Action Plan, phase-II under Public Participation/Advocacy/Outreach Work at schools and community level (in Un-authorized colony, JJ Basti, and Urban rural Village) in Trans Yamuna (East & North East). Under YAP-II programme, we did sample survey and made linkage with Local Leaders, Pardhans, RWAs, Market Associations, Govt. Schools and SHGs for proper association to start the programme.
Smile-PFI Swabhiman Project
Preschool/ Non-Formal Education
ADHAAR has run 4 Balwadis and NFE at Chilla Village, Patpargunj, Mandawali and New Ashok Nagar and basic computer learning. Preschool education and socialization is provided to 130 young children in the age group of 3 to 5 years. The total number of children who benefited from attending the balwadi services during the stated period is 169. The timings of the balwadis are 9a.m to 12 p.m. In the afternoon in the same premises non formal education is provided to school drop outs and non school going children in the age group of 5+ years to 12 years.
This project focuses mainly on girl/women health and empowerment. It is funded by Population Foundation of India and the mother NGO is SMILE. Adhaar is implemented this project in C and E block of New Ashok Nagar and slum of Shashi Garden, Patpargunj. The objective of Swabhiman project is to generate awareness on issues of reproductive and sexual health covering safe motherhood, child health, family planning, RTI/STI, HIV, and AIDS among adolescent girls. It also aims to sensitize the adolescent girls on gender issues and impart life skills education (leadership, positive thinking, communication skills etc) among the health volunteers.
